Women Voters are in Favor of McCain

Disenchanted Hillary Backers Breathe New Life into Stereotypes about Women

Hillary Clinton and Barack ObamaHillary Clinton was a great potential candidate for the next President of the United States. I personally would not have voted for her but I had a lot of respect for the things that she stood for. These ideals appealed to many female voters out there who were looking for a candidate that would represent their best interests.

Well after a long and grueling primary election a lot of these women felt as though they had been “cheated” when their candidate did not get elected. Unfortunately this is the way things work in the election cycle. Only one candidate can be elected.

After the DNC where Hillary voiced her support for Barack Obama a lot of the “thinking voters” decided to work towards the future and get behind their parties leading candidate. Unfortunately a large contingent still voiced distaste of Obama and made it known they would be voting for McCain to “spite” Obama.

Well I lost almost all of the respect I had for these voters when I heard these types of comments. In a stereotypical fashion they’ve decided they will make a major decision that will affect the lives of millions based on emotions, and spite.

I have even heard some women saying they are going to vote for McCain because of the media treatment Sarah Palin has received, as a way to “spite” the press.

In a way, I guess it doesn’t surprise me that women who think that way would line up behind McCain. It’s ironic though that they are now supporting a party that intends to undue much of the progress the women’s movement has made in the past three decades.

I wonder if they realize that in the end the spiteful choices they make are going to hurt them the most and everything they have fought so hard for? *sigh*
