What’s Involved in Installing Kubuntu?
Today I will be posting the follow-up article for “What Version of Linux is RIght for Me?” and “Kubuntu Linux Successfully Installed“.
This post will walk you through installing Kubuntu Linux onto a computer. In this video tutorial I am installing Kubuntu onto my notebook.
The idea behind these guides and videos is to show people who have no prior knowledge of Linux (like me) how easy it can be to get started with it. I will continue to post more videos to help people who are new to Linux get the basics down and you can learn it along with me.
There are a couple things I want to note about the video. First off this is my first video ever so I was not exactly sure what I was doing. I tried to set it up as professionally as possible, but I made the mistake of using my iPhone as a timer which caused interference with the video camera. So at points during the video there is a little bit of distortion in the audio. Live and learn.
The video also turned out to be longer than I figured. It’s about 20 minutes. Because of this I had to host it on Google video instead of YouTube, but it should still work fine for embedding into the post. Lastly I had to struggle ALOT with Windows Movie Maker to put this video together. I know, I know… It’s kind of any oxymoron that my video about Linux was made on Windows Movie Maker, but as I mentioned this is my first video so I wanted to keep things relatively easy.
Anyway I hope people find the video useful. If you or anyone you know is thinking about switching over to Linux you may want to watch this video because it shows just how easy to switch can be. For this video I did no prior research about what to expect from the installation, and just jumped right into it. The video has been edited in parts while the installer was going so I tried to keep people informed of how long the process was taking by running the timer.

Looks like you downloaded the alternate install cd. As for switching to GNU/Linux, I dabble every now and then with different distributions.
