How to Build a 3D Theater – DIY Projector Info
Experience Trippy Movies They Way They Were Meant to be Seen!
Several years ago I was involved with the DIY projector community which focused on creating home theater quality equipment made from spare parts to save thousands of dollars on expensive projectors.
Now-a-days projectors have become so inexpensive it almost more practical just to go out and buy a retail unit if you are watching movies at home on the “silver screen”.
It’s still a great project to be involved in if you want to learn more about the technical aspects of projectors, the way they work, and all the little nuances that go into creating a great home theater experience.
I have noticed a lot of the people in the community have gone on to build much nicer, more advanced projectors over the years. They are still producing some really great work, and some of them have even started experimenting with different types of projection like that used in Arcades, IMAX theaters, and 3D cinemas.
An article I came across on Wired today is a really great example of this DIY mentality that walks you through how to build your own 3D projector.
If you have been interested in getting involved in the DIY projector / home theater community or just enjoy knowing how things work you should check out the article for a fun project that will introduce you to some interesting concepts of 3D cinema.
